To develop advanced technology products and to disseminate them through strategic alliances with emerging and existing leaders in the agricultural field.
Electricity is of short supply these days. Many a times, a farmer has to make multiple trips to the farm just to check if there is adequate electricity to turn on the pump to water their crop. We dug deep to understand the inherent problems faced by farmers who use motors to water their fields. Problems that came up included load-shedding, frequent interruptions in the supply of electricity, trips to the fields in the night or in the heat of the midday sun, in all weather conditions, fear of scorpion and snake bites, and the dangers posed by the ever-increasing foray of wild animals such as leopards and wild boar into the fields. In some places, the terrain posed an obstacle in reaching the motor on time. Farmers understand the challenges they face to continue irrigating crops. As populations grow, demand for water increases. The Raita Mitra is an answer to this problem.
It is estimated that about 87% of total utilizable water is used for agriculture in our country. The flood or flow irrigation method in our country results in more than 50% of water wastage. Moreover, an estimated 213 billion cubic meters out of 690 billion cubic meters of surface water is wasted each month in India. Water leakage, pilferage and wastage amounts to 50% of the total flow. Industry estimates value of water & wastewater market in India. Nearly 20% of the farmers are dependent on electric water pumps for irrigation which demands electricity. Around 25% of total Gram Panchayats (GPs) of any state of India having pump-based Drinking/Irrigation Water Supply facilities. There are currently about 140 million irrigation pumps across India.
In Karnataka alone there is approximately 90 lakh irrigation pumps are there. Even if we cover 1% of the total irrigation pumps, it will be 90 thousand pump sets. If we install 1000 numbers every month it takes 11 to 12 years, it is going to be a perennial business opportunity for the company.
Due to electricity fluctuation and irregular supply irrigation pumps are getting burnt very often, Farmers are spending at least Rs. 2000.00 to 3000.00 towards these problems every year. We have come up with a new innovative product (Motor Protect Unit, MPU) which will solve the problem permanently. MPU will take care burning of the pump set due to high voltage / over load / single phase current / due to any other reason. This unit also has very high potential in the market.
